"Maintaining all your forestry and road construction needs"
|
Comstock Woodlands is a logging and road construction services company based out of the Comstock Township in northern Maine. Comstock services various paper mills throughout the state of Maine and does various road constructions on the Golden Road since 1991. Comstock Woodlands harvests wood and builds and maintains logging roads and bridges on more than 500,000 acres in northern Maine. From our facility off the Golden Road, 30 employees spread across 25 townships to harvest wood and maintain roads. The facility has an on-site camp which contains housing units for the employees to stay in during the week and is all interconnected to a kitchen and dining area for their comfort. All of Comstock's loggers are certified by Maine's Certified Logging Professional program and obtain CLP re-certification every two years. We operate John Deere cut-to-length harvesting systems, comprising five processors and four forwarders. With these harvesting systems they are able to do selective harvesting which helps to protect the environment. Cut-to-length not only allows us to reduce yard space but can also help improve the aesthetics of the job while protecting regenerative growth and eliminate ground disturbance, all while increasing productivity. Comstock also has Timberjack harvesters, Timberjack forwarders, skidders, and a Volvo delimber. We are a full service logging operation also equipped with loading cranes and trucks with log-trailers. This enables us to cut, process, load, and truck all our own wood to the mill.
